Pascal's story begins long ago when his mother, Sarina, ran off with his father, Bernard Gagnon, from America to France to start a family. Sarina's family didn't agree with her decision to elope with a French soldier and refused to have anything to do with her. She gave up everything to be with him. They got married and Pascal was born not too long after. Life was golden for the first six years of Pascal's existence. But due to an accident, Pascal's father passed away.

Overcome with grief, his mother didn't know what to do with herself. She moved back to America with Pascal to seek help from the family she left behind. They turned her away and she had nowhere left to go. Desperate, she married a man who would be able to support her. Pascal's mother never recovered from the agony of losing Bernard and drowned her sorrows in alcohol. She no longer saw her son when she looked at Pascal, but a reflection of what she had lost. The man she had married turned out to be abusive and hostile. Pascal became a victim of neglect and physical abuse.

Young Pascal was punished for just about everything. There were a few teachers who tried to help him but it only ended up making things worse. No matter what he did there was no escape from the torment he faced daily. His comatose mother offered him no answers other than blame for what had happened to his father. Pascal was born with a good amount of potential to do well in school, but whenever he would come home bearing good grades his parents were indifferent. Later in his years, Pascal dropped out of high school his junior year to start a better life for himself.

He was recruited by the AoAS (Association of Armed Specialists) after a few years of petty crimes and living on the streets. There he met and befriended Spencer. Pascal had great natural ability and was a quick learner. The AoAS expanded on this and transformed him into a well respected mercenary. His eccentric appearance and interests did not deter him from being hired for a good portion of top ranked jobs.
